FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an improved method of producing methylene-bridged polyphenyl polyamines from aniline and formaldehyde. The method involves the following steps: a) condensation of aniline and formaldehyde to obtain a condensate, where the molar ratio of aniline and formaldehyde is selected in the range from 2 to 3.5; b) reaction at a first catalytic reaction step at reaction temperature ranging from about 30°C to about 100°C of the obtained condensate over a solid catalyst selected from a group consisting of clay and aluminosilicates, to obtain an intermediate mixture containing aminobenzylamines; c) conversion, at the next catalytic reaction step at temperature ranging from about 70°C to about 250°C, temperature at said next catalytic reaction step being higher that reaction temperature at the first catalytic reaction step, of the intermediate mixture to methylene-bridged polyphenyl polyamines in the presence of the next solid catalyst selected from a group comprising zeolites, delaminated zeolites and mesoporous with a regular structure.
EFFECT: method prolongs catalyst operating time.
