SUBSTANCE: methods and devices are proposed for use with navigation radio stations with the possibility of switching a mode of operation of a location detection scheme. The specified methods and devices may be realised for selective switching between determined modes of operation on the basis of at least partially a test for mode switching, which takes into account one or more test conditions without time reference for determination of whether mode switching may be permitted.

EFFECT: provision of the possibility for certain devices to act with reduced consumption of a battery without considerable reduction of efficiency in respect to accuracy or time of response.
