FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention may be used in strip welding at specialised machines incorporated with high-efficiency continuous metallurgical units, for example, tube welding and profile-iron bending stands, and pickling lines. With welding machine pneumatic clamp lifted keys, rear end of previous strip is fed to built-in shears to stop it nearby cutting axis to cut it off. Shears top support is lifted to upper position along with rear end clamped by steadier to feed front end of next strip under lifted rear end of previous strip to stop it nearby cutting axis. Steadier is pulled apart to place rear end on front end to cut off strip front end. Welding support with torch is displaced from initial position to butted strip in welding position. Strip front end is lifted by hydraulic cylinder rod to produce welding gap between strip cutoff edges and to clamp strip edges to be welded together. After welding, hydraulic cylinder rod is displaced in initial position to lift aforesaid keys and to move welding torch in initial position.

EFFECT: simplified design, higher reliability.
