FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing straight-chain alkanes of general formula Alk-CH2-CH3, where Alk=C6H13, C8H17. The method involves hydrogenation of an olefin with hydrogen on a nano-catalyst, and is characterised by that the olefin used is octene-1 or decene-1, and the nano-catalyst used is nickel nanoparticles obtained in situ by reducing nickel (II) chloride with lithium aluminium hydride in a tetrahydrofuran medium. The process is carried out at atmospheric pressure of hydrogen at temperature of 50-70°C for 7-8 hours, followed by separation of the end products.
EFFECT: use of the present method simplifies and reduces the cost of producing the desired compounds.
