FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: independent heat carrier flows controlled as to flow rate and temperature are supplied to external and internal surfaces of pipes; at that, heat carrier flows are directed to external surface of pipes in the form of transverse jet streams, and internal surface of pipes is blown with longitudinal flow of heat carrier, the direction of which is changed from time to time to the opposite one; at that, difference of temperatures of those pipes, which are average as to length, are maintained within ±2.5°C in terms of one metre of their length during the heat treatment by controlling the flow rate and temperature of flows.
EFFECT: synchronous variation of linear sizes of external and internal pipes during heating; excluding their deformation or destruction of weld joints.
