FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: in an article made from extruded polymer foam, styrene material, olefin polymer and less than 5% of an interpolymer and less than 2% of any other combination agent or combination agents with respect to the total mass of the polymer, are present in form of a mixture. The olefin polymer is contained in the polymer material in a mass quantity less than the amount of the styrene material which is contained in amount of more than 50 wt %, with respect to the entire polymer material of the polymer foamed article. The styrene material contains a styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer and optionally polystyrene. The acrylonitrile is present in concentration of more than approximately 5 wt % and less than approximately 35 wt %, with respect to the total mass of the styrene material. Glass transition temperature (Tst) of the styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer and the crystallisation temperature (Tcr) of the polyolefin differ from each other in the range of 30°C. Articles made from the extruded closed-cell polymer foam have good surface processing quality and a good closed-cell structure, density lower than 36 kg/m3 (measured according to ASTM D1622-03), vertical compression strength in the range of 100-300 kPa (measured according to ASTM D1622-03) and compression strength ratio (Re) greater than approximately 0.35.
EFFECT: improved method.
