FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: liquid crystal display device has a plurality of pixels which are assembled along a first direction and a second direction different from the first direction, and has: a first substrate having a first electrode provided in a first pixel, and a second electrode provided in a second pixel; a second substrate which is assembled such that it lies opposite the first substrate, wherein the second substrate has a counter electrode; and a liquid crystal layer placed between the first substrate and the second substrate. The first electrode has a plurality of first branching parts which continue towards the second pixel; the second electrode has a plurality of second branching parts which continue towards the first pixel, and some of the plurality of first branching parts have end parts directed towards the edge of the second electrode, and if looking along the first direction, at least part of at least one of the end parts faces the gap between the end parts of two of the plurality of second branching parts.
EFFECT: providing a liquid crystal display device in which there is less probability of voltage leakage between electrodes, and which is configured for high-quality display with high brightness or high resolution.
