FIELD: physics, computer engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a liquid crystal display. The result is achieved due to that the liquid crystal display has a liquid crystal panel (20) having an area sensor function of detecting the position of an input from an outside source by detecting an image on the surface of the panel. The liquid crystal panel (20) has a group of light-sensitive elements (30) which detect the intensity of received light. The liquid crystal panel (20) is provided with: a light intensity sensor section (50), formed by said light-sensitive elements (30) which lie in the outermost peripheral part of a display region (20a) of the liquid crystal panel (20), i.e., the sensor section (50) which detects the intensity of light in an environment where the display is placed; and visible light sensors (31A) and infrared light sensors (31B), different from said light-sensitive elements which form the light intensity sensor section (50), i.e. sensors which detect the position of an input from an outside source through the light-sensitive elements detecting an image on the surface of the panel.
EFFECT: more accurate measurement of light intensity.
