METHOD OF FUNCTIONAL REHABILITATION OF VISION ACUITY Russian patent published in 2013 - IPC A61F9/00

Abstract RU 2481086 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, ophthalmology, psychophysiology. First, attention is fixed on visual sensation of contrast in observation of test-object - Snellen optotype, with eyes open. Fixation of attention with closed eyes is carried out separately - on sensations in eyes and imagination about these sensations. After that, patient's attention is successively transferred from non-visual sensations: heat, volume, eye density, to visual ones: darkness, light. Patients are asked to imagine sensations of light, keeping eyes closed, remove palms, feel and realise sensation of light, close eyes with palms, imagine qualitative changes of sensation of light in eyes: brighter-darker, higher-lower-more right-more left at the background of darkness sensation. Patients are asked to remove palms keeping eyes closed, feel and realise qualitative changes of light sensations of changing illumination and direction of light source in front of eyes. After that, patient is asked to close eyes with palms again, imagine complex visual image in form of a set of separate elementary visual sensations: contrasts of light and dark and their mutual location, realise difference between imagination of visual image in general and sensations in eyes in its perception. After that, with eyes open, training of visual perception and contrast sensitivity is carried out with sinusoidal grids for checking contrast sensitivity, Snellen optotypes and letter-number optotypes. Sensitivity with involuntary eye movements is consciously intensified by head movements: to the right-to the left, up-down, inclination to the right-to the left, forward-backward; by winking, closing and goggling eyes.

EFFECT: method ensures increase of vision acuity in case of diseases which are unpromising from point of view of treatment by means of drug, physio-reflexo-therapeutic, surgical methods: myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, amblyopia in postplasty period, presbyopia, degeneration of retina, optic nerve, low vision of different etiology.
