FIELD: instrument making.
SUBSTANCE: temperature measurement and/or control instrument is proposed, which includes a glass body, a glass tank with a capillary, which contains mercury as thermometric fluid, and a temperature measurement and/or control station. Along external surface of the instrument or its part there located is a composite material with a laminated and/or disperse structure based at least on one polymer that contains N structurally organised binding and/or strengthening layers, as well as M functional layers providing strength and/or physical and chemical characteristics, when the condition 2M-1≤N≤3M+2 is met, where M is the selected integral value of 1-8. Thickness of composite material and each of its layers is uniform or variable throughout the external surface of the instrument; boundaries between adjacent layers have diffusion or hetero-phase structure and light transmission of composite material in the zone of the temperature measurement and/or control station is 0.75-0.98.
EFFECT: increasing the resistance of the instrument to mechanical actions.
