FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: fuel assembly has splice-pieces (150) in which exposed targets (170) are placed. The exposed targets (170) are in holding openings (160). The splice-pieces have an opening (155) whose shape and location enables to pass a fuel rod through a splice-piece. The exposed targets (170) are placed in the nuclear reactor core having fuel assemblies (100) which generate radioisotopes. The radioisotopes are removed from the spent fuel assembly (100) of the nuclear reactor by removing the splice-pieces (150).
EFFECT: high efficiency of generating radioisotopes.
