FIELD: nuclear energy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to fuel assemblies of nuclear reactors of the VVER-440, VVER-1000 and VVER-1200 types. The fuel assembly of a nuclear reactor includes a bundle of fuel elements containing fuel pellets, pressed in the axial direction by a 2-stage spring clamp resting on the shell of the fuel element, sealed with a plug and tip by means of contact-butt welding, located along a regular triangular grid with a pitch of 12.2…12.3 mm in spacer grids connected to the centre pipe, hex boot connected to the head and shank, anti-debris filter. Outer diameter of fuel element shell is 0.720…0.733 from the fuel rod grid spacing with a fuel pellet diameter of 7.57…7.60 mm.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to increase the water-uranium ratio of fuel assemblies of these reactors by reducing the outer diameter of the fuel element cladding, reducing metal consumption and, ultimately, improving its neutron characteristics and energy production.
