SUBSTANCE: wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) paging may be configured so as to: select various paging indicator channel (PICH) information which is broadcast by a base station; receive paging messages, based on the selected PICH information; receive paging messages based on a PICH, a high speed-shared control channel (HS-SCCH) and a high speed physical downlink shared channe; (HS-PDSCH); and also receive paging messages based on the PICH and HS-PDSCH, wherein a time delay parameter is used so that the WTRU may listen for either the HS-SCCH or HS-PDSCH for a period of time and return to a sleep mode if no paging message is received.
EFFECT: enabling paging of a wireless transceiving device over a downlink channel.
