FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: opposed internal combustion engine without a piston rod contains opposed cylinders with pistons and conversion mechanism of gear type, in which the first piston is rigidly connected to the left gear sleeve of conversion mechanism, the second piston is located symmetrically to cylinders axis at an angle of 180° relative to the first piston and is rigidly connected to the right gear sleeve. Sleeves are designed hollow inside and have four teeth with rounded top and a base which height is equal to piston stroke. By teeth sleeves interact with teeth of working gearwheel. Gear sleeves are connected to engine housing by flexible spline joint. Conversion of piston reciprocating movement to rotary movement of working gearwheel is performed by means of interaction of its teeth with the sleeve teeth.
EFFECT: reducing imbalance and reducing height of the engine centre of gravity for its dynamic stability.
