SUBSTANCE: invention relates to starting up and personalising a further second non-personalised identification module (VSIM), in particular for operation of a mobile radio terminal, wherein a first identification module Master SIM (MSIM) containing a personalised user data set is present. Authentication and/or checking of the second SIM card (VSIM) is carried out; a data unit containing one or more unique definitive user identification (IMSI) to be stored on the second SIM card (VSIM) for personalisation of the second SIM card (VSIM) is read from the first identification module Master SIM (MSIM), transmitted to the second SIM card (VSIM) and stored therein. The data unit generated during personalisation and associated data or user data, including the serial number (ICCID) of the second SIM card (VSIM) are stored in a home location register (HLR) of the mobile radio network.

EFFECT: implementing the disclosed method without extensive participation of the service provider.
