IMPROVEMENT OF INTERMEDIATE DISTANCE VISION BY MEANS OF PHAKIC MULTIFOCAL OPTICS, USING RESIDUAL ACCOMMODATION Russian patent published in 2013 - IPC A61F2/16 A61F9/07

Abstract RU 2482817 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medicine and medical equipment, namely to methods of vision correction, in particular to methods of improving vision in phakic eyes by application intraocular lenses. Method of vision correction lies in determination of residual accommodation demonstrated by natural eye lens. After that, in one of versions multifocal intraocular lens (IOL), which possesses optic power of distant focus and additional optic power, is selected for implantation into eye, with preservation of natural eye crystalline lens. Additional optic power of IOL is selected depending on residual accommodation on condition that combination of IOL and lens provides visual contrast higher than 10% with spatial frequency 20 periods/degree, when objects, located at distance larger than 30 cm from eye, are observed. In the second version of the method multifocal intraocular lens (IOL), which provides optic power of distant focus and optic power of close focus, is selected for implantation into eye, with preservation of natural eye lens. Depth of sharpness, corresponding to distant or close focus, is selected on condition that displacement of distant or close eye focus, induced by residual accommodation of natural crystalline lens, provides as a result intermediate vision or near vision, respectively, with visual contrast higher than 10% with spatial frequency 20 periods/degree. Group of inventions also includes intraocular lens for implantation into phakic eye, which contains optic element, providing distant focus and close focus, characterised by additional optic power. Additional optic power has values in range from 1 d to 4.5 d. Depth of sharpness, corresponding to, at least, one of foci, corresponds to optic power higher than 1 d.

EFFECT: invention will make it possible to increase efficiency of vision correction by implantation of multifocal IOL into phakic eye.
