SUBSTANCE: result is achieved by forming, when the aircraft is in flight, radar images of the observed terrain in a normal earth coordinate system of the corresponding area taking into account adjustments to estimates of values of flight parameters, generated by the on-board aircraft control system and subsequent cross-correlation processing of the formed radar image with a reference radar image prepared beforehand.
EFFECT: high probability of correct determination of the position of an aircraft based on radar images of the earth's surface and broader conditions for possible application of on-board radar equipment of the aircraft, which enable navigation of the aircraft on radar images of the earth's surface.
