FIELD: measurement equipment.
SUBSTANCE: result of the invention is achieved by formation in flight of an airborne vehicle (AV) of a radar image of the earth surface in a "slant range - Doppler frequency" coordinate system, conversion of this image to a set of radar images (RI) in the normal earth system of coordinates considering a priori formed corrections to the data on AV flight altitude, which is calculated by a navigation complex of the airborne vehicle, and further mutual correlation processing of formed RI with the reference (standard) radar image prepared in advance.
EFFECT: improving probability of correct determination of position of airborne vehicles as per radar images of the earth surface and enlarging conditions of possible application of onboard radar aids of airborne vehicles, which provide a possibility of navigation of airborne vehicles as per radar images of the earth surface.
