FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy and may be used in medicine for making surface porous implants from biocompatible materials. Proposed method comprises preparing exothermal blend from mix of powders forming, in SHS conditions, biocompatible refractory metal compounds and inert components with melting point lower than that of SHS refractory products, preparing slurry from exothermal blend on the basis of aqueous solution of organic binder, applying said slurry on the metal substrate surface, drying produced workpiece, placing it into chamber with air or inert atmosphere, its preliminary volumetric heating, sintering in SHS conditions, sintering the coating to substrate by heating it to temperature making 0.7-0.95 of substrate melting point. Note here that said preliminary heating and that in sintering are carried out by joule heat on passing electric current through metal substrate, cooling and discharging finished article.
EFFECT: coating of spherical particles that features thickness of 0,1-1,0 mm and 35-40% porosity.
