FIELD: technology of production of composition materials -cermets; manufacture of wear-resistant articles and abrasive tools.
SUBSTANCE: production of cermet Al2O3-Al includes preparation of charge by mixing the aluminum powder consisting of laminar particles with aqueous solution of organic binder. Charge is dried to preset residual moisture and blank is molded from it at application of pressure of 1.25·10-2-2.5·10-2 Mpa. After burning-out of organic binder in air, blank is subjected to additional molding at pressure of 520-600 Mpa. Then, it is heated to temperature of 550-600°C by means of air heat-transfer agent for initiating process of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis. Upon completion of this process, article thus obtained is cooled in air at room temperature. Cermet thus produced possesses the following properties: apparent density, 2.40-2.53 g/cm3; bending strength, 250-300 MPa; crack resistance, 8.5-10.5·Mpa·m1/2, impact strength, 15·103-20·103·J/m2.
EFFECT: simplified procedure; improved mechanical properties of material.
