FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy, particularly, to making titanium nickelide-based porous materials in self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHTS). It may be used in production of implants in medicine. First, exothermic mix is prepared to contain powders of nickel and titanium bearing 47-53% of nickel, titanium and powder components making the rest to form biocompatible refractory compounds with fusion point exceeding that of titanium nickelide. Mix is compacted to make billet to be placed in SHTS reactor and fired by appropriate composition.

EFFECT: phase homogeneous structure, high strength.
