FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemistry of energy-saturated materials, particularly to an improved method of producing 2,4,6-tri-(2,4,6-trinitrophenyl)-1,3,5-triazine (tripicryl-c-triazine). Tripicryl-c-triazine, a safe, thermally stable explosive, is used in making equipment for perforation work in oil and gas extraction. The method is realised using as starting components 2,4,6-trinitrochlorobenzene and 2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5-triazine according to an Ullmann reaction, wherein the reaction is carried out in a medium of alkylbenzenes in the presence of activating additives: 1 mole γ-butyrolactone, 1 mole potassium bromide, 0.16-0.24 mole crystalline iodine per mole of the starting 2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5-triazine at temperature of 110÷125°C. Tripicryl-c-triazine is separated and purified by treating a mixture of condensed products of reaction of 2,4,6-trinitrochlorobenzene and 2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5-triazine successively with 40-45% nitric acid and a mixture of 98% nitric acid and 94% sulphuric acid.

EFFECT: low temperature required, avoiding use of highly toxic nitrobenzene, methanol, hydrochloric acid in the process, method enables use of readily available chlorine derivatives picryl chloride and cyanuric chloride in producing tripicryl-s-triazine, high output of tripicryl-c-triazine using said components, reduced hazardousness of the process, improved technological effectiveness, low cost of tripicryl-c-triazine.
