FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: aqueous adhesive composition for glass fibre contains an acid-amine component. The acid-amine component contains molecules of at least one primary amine bonded with molecules of at least one phosphorus-containing acid or a sulphur-containing acid. The primary amine is aminosilane, imidazoline, alkylimidazoline, amine oxide ethoxylate or a polyamine derivative of a fatty acid or mixtures thereof. The phosphorus-containing acid is phosphorous acid, hypophosphorous acid, phosphonic acid, organophosphorus acids or mixtures thereof. The sulphur-containing acid is sulphonic acid, organosulphonic acid, hydrogen sulphide or sulphurous acid or mixtures thereof. A strand of the glass fibre contains at least one glass fibre at least partially coated with the aqueous adhesive composition. The glass fibre which is partially coated with the aqueous adhesive composition is used to make composite material having a polymer base and a plurality of glass fibres. To make the composite material, a plurality of glass fibres are placed in a polymer resin. At least one of the plurality of glass fibres is at least partially coated with the aqueous adhesive composition.

EFFECT: using an adhesive composition applied on glass fibre improves the surface of chopped glass strands and reduces the percentage of fluffy and broken fibres during processing.
