FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention may be used during application of decorative coatings onto consumer goods, trimming and decorative and artistic items in different spheres of economy. The method involves application of a niobium layer onto a dielectric substrate surface by way of magnetron sputtering in vacuum with subsequent formation of topological image by way of photolithography; then one performs electrochemical anodising in a 5% solution of sodium carbonate at room temperature, first - in DC mode, then - in DC voltage mode to obtain a coating that is coloured violet if the electrode voltage is 20 V, blue if the electrode voltage is 30 V, golden if the electrode voltage is 65 V, cherry if the electrode voltage is 75 V, emerald if the electrode voltage is 90 V, green if the electrode voltage is 105 V.
EFFECT: invention allows to ensure attractive visual appearance of items with stable bright coloration unchanging in the course of years.
