FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing a protective-decorative coating on the surface of a dielectric substrate. In a vacuum, the surface of said substrate is subjected to ion-plasma treatment with an inert gas with exposure doses of 8⋅1016–2⋅1017 ion/cm2 and applying a layer of zirconium or tantalum by magnetron sputtering, followed by formation of a topological pattern from isolated areas by photolithographic treatment or laser ablation of said layer. Then said isolated areas of the applied layer are subjected to electrochemical treatment in a weak acid solution at voltage of 5–250 V.
EFFECT: providing the possibility of creating protective-decorative multi-colour patterns with high mechanical and chemical resistance.
