METHOD TO REPLACE PIPES IN PIPELINES Russian patent published in 2013 - IPC F16L1/00 F16L1/28 

FIELD: construction.

SUBSTANCE: method includes arrangement of local pits for exposure of a pipe, cutting of its end sections and their replacement with new sections. Within the length of the pipeline at the distance of around 100 and more metres from each other, there are two local pits dug, sections of the old pipeline are cut at their borders. In the first pit a pneumatic-mechanical machine is installed with a drive from a compressor station, providing for pneumatic-mechanical breakaway (shift) of the replaced section of the pipeline from the soil that surrounds it and its movement towards the second open pit for the length of around 0.5 metre. Then the pneumatic-mechanical machine from the first pit is removed, in the second pit a hydraulic plant is mounted with a drive from a hydraulic station, with the help of which stack rods are pulled in direction towards the first pit through the pipe cavity. At their end from the side of the first pit there is a thrust adapter mounted, an expander (if necessary) and a swivel, to which a new pipe is fixed. In the second pit the other end of stack rods is pressed in the hydraulic plant, which pushes the old pipe towards the second pit and simultaneously pulls the new pipe into the produced well-hole to bring its ends to the place of connection into the pipeline.

EFFECT: reduced labour costs with trenchless replacement of damaged sections of metal pipelines.
