FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: both reflected radiation and its harmonic and a wide spectrum of optical radiation (from infrared to X-ray range) generated in form of a spectrum of coherent electromagnetic oscillations by the laser plasma, are returned to the laser plasma at its initial phase of emission. A region of a target illuminated by the laser is placed at the focal point of the reflected electromagnetic radiation from a metal shield with a polished inner surface with a spherical shape, having an aperture for transporting laser radiation to the target and emitting laser plasma, which is made from metal with a high mass number according to the periodic table of elements, and placed in a flight channel in the region of the target.
EFFECT: high charge state of ions at the output of a laser-plasma generator of multicharged ions.
