METHOD OF PRODUCING MICROSPHERES FOR RADIOTHERAPY Russian patent published in 2013 - IPC C03B19/10 A61K51/00

Abstract RU 2485059 C1

FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medical equipment and can be used to produce microspheres for radiotherapy. The microspheres are made in form of glass particles by fusing oxides of silicon, yttrium and aluminium. The microspheres are treated with 0.1-0.2 M oxalic acid or 0.2-1.5 M hydrochloric acid or 0.01-0.05 M hydrofluoric acid or a mixture of hydrochloric acid and hydrofluoric acid in a ratio ranging from 10:1 to 20:1, respectively, or a mixture of hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid and oxalic acid in a ratio ranging from 10:1:1 to 20:1:1, respectively. After acid treatment, the suspension is washed at least twice with water for injection and at least twice with alcohol. Further, the microspheres are irradiated with slow neutrons in a reactor, wherein the microspheres are treated at temperature of 20-60°C until the treated layer achieves thickness of 10-100 nm.

EFFECT: maintaining high specific activity of microspheres during prolonged use thereof.
