FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of dissolving tantalum pentoxide and can be used in preparative and analytical chemistry, as well as for producing and processing tantalum, including obtaining high-purity tantalum compounds. Method of dissolving tantalum pentoxide involves fusion of Ta2O5 with a mixture of bifluoride and ammonium sulphate in weight ratio of 1:3:10 at temperature of 330 °C for 3-4 hours. Then melt is cooled and dissolved in oxalic acid.
EFFECT: simplification of the dissolution process due to lower temperature of the process and exclusion of operations with hazardous liquids; dissolution of a large amount of tantalum is also provided without contamination of the obtained solution with silicon compounds.
