FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: from the strain of lipid-producing fungus Mortierella alpina a new gene is obtained, encoding the enzyme of glycerol-3-phosphate acyltransferase, its complete nucleotide sequence is determined, and also its part encoding the mature protein; the amino acid sequence of the new enzyme is determined. By transforming the strains of Mortierella and yeast strains encoding the enzyme by the nucleotide sequence the transformants are obtained having changed fractional ratio of fatty acids compared to the host organism.
EFFECT: improvement of the strain properties.
