FIELD: oil and gas industry.

SUBSTANCE: carrying device to be used with a downhole tool has a swelling element. The device includes an attachment part to be attached to the downhole tool, a ring part attached to the attachment one, and an elastomeric part located inside the ring part. The elastomeric part of the device consists of an elastomer capable of being expanded at action on it of water solutions and hydrocarbons, as well as in response to axial pressure from the swelling element of the downhole tool. Being expanded in response to axial pressure, elastomeric part of the device enlarges the ring part in radial direction. The downhole tool includes a housing, a swelling elastomeric element around the housing and the above carrying device. The elastomeric element is capable of being expanded at action on it of fluid medium predetermined with the well. The assembly method of the downhole tool involves several stages: selection of the swelling element for the downhole tool; location of the swelling element on the housing of the tool; location on the housing near the end of the swelling element of the above carrying device and attachment of the device to the housing.

EFFECT: prevention of extrusion of the swelling element in axial direction.
