FIELD: information technology.

SUBSTANCE: in the method of drawing advanced maps based on a three-dimensional digital model of an area, involving central projection of points of the three-dimensional digital model of the area by a beam onto a plane, the mapping object is selected in form of a three-dimensional digital model of the area and its boundaries in the horizontal projection are determined; settings of the advanced map to be drawn are given; optimality criteria for advanced display of the mapping object are selected; the value of the horizontal and vertical viewing angle is given; a certain preliminary path of observation points is drawn around the mapped object in the horizontal projection such that the mapped object fits into the section of horizontal viewing angles.

EFFECT: broader functional capabilities by finding the optimum position of the projection centre when drawing an advanced map based on a three-dimensional digital model.
