FIELD: radio engineering, communications.
SUBSTANCE: access point generates beacons at different levels of capacity at different moments of time, to provide an acceptable balance between a coverage zone connected to beacons and interruptions in service, which arise on nearby access terminals. For instance, a femto access cell may transmit beacons with relatively low capacity during a relatively long period of time, in order to reduce noise in nearby access terminals, which are serviced with a macro access cell. Then the femto access cell may transmit beacons with relatively high capacity during a relatively short period of time, in order to make it possible for nearby access terminals to accept beacons. Besides, a specified tract of transmission may be used, to ensure spasmodic variation of frequency in beacons with high and low capacity.
EFFECT: balance between coverage zones.
