SUBSTANCE: transmitted power (e.g., maximum transmitted power) can be set based on the maximum intensity of the received signal allowed by the receiver, and minimum losses due to crosstalk attenuation from the transmitting node to the receiver. Transmitted power can be set for an access node (e.g., femto-node) so that outage arising in a cell (e.g., macrocell) is limited, while providing an acceptable coverage level for access terminals associated with the access node. The access node can independently regulate its transmitted power based on channel measurement and the given coverage gap to suppress noise. Transmitted power can be set based on channel quality. Transmitted power can be set based on the signal-to-noise ratio on the access terminal. Transmitted power of neighbouring access nodes can also be controlled through signalling between access nodes.

EFFECT: improved noise control for wireless networks.
