FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: titanium material for rolling has recesses on its surface. Decreased quantity of defects caused on surface due to hot rolling results from using titanium material with regulated recesses on surface and method of its production. Recesses on titanium material surface result from cold plastic deformation. Mean height We of roughness profile elements varies from 0.2 to 1.5 mm while their mean length equals 3 to 15 mm. Recesses on titanium material surface result from cold plastic deformation performed using steel tool with rounded end with radius of curvature of 3 to 30 mm or steel sphere with radius of 3 to 30 mm.

EFFECT: lower probability of surface defects on both main flat surfaces and side surfaces and edges.
