FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: newborn's peripheral blood is examined for malondialdehyde (MDA), and newborn's erythrocyte membrane α-spectrin is determined by disk electrophoresis in polyacrylamide gel (10%) with sodium dodecyl sulphate; a discriminant function is calculated by formula as follows: Df=(-4.131×α-spectrin)+(+14.334×MDA); wherein Df is a discriminant function; α-spectrin is erythrocyte stromal protein as a part of the erythrocyte membranes; MDA is a fatty acid peroxidation product in newborn's peripheral blood. If Df is more than (-0.235), a threatening instability of newborn's erythrocyte membranes is predicted that can lead to developing prenatal anaemia.
EFFECT: higher accuracy of the prediction procedure.
