SUBSTANCE: invention relates to research of upper atmosphere of Earth and circumterrestrial space by the method of artificial luminescent clouds and may be used, for instance, under active effects at atmospheric processes. The method for development of artificial luminescent clouds of vapours of alkaline and alkali-earth metal in the upper atmosphere of Earth includes generation of metal vapours as a result of quick burning of a mixture of inorganic azides of alkaline or alkali-earth metals and titanium. Also the device is proposed for realisation of this method.

EFFECT: invention represents a universal, highly efficient and safe solution for generation and quick discharge of metal vapours into upper layers of Earth atmosphere.
