FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: catalyst system for neutralising or reducing toxicity of internal combustion engine exhaust gases, having at least two catalysts (3, 4) placed in a common housing (2), arranged in series on the direction of flow of the exhaust gases and having a spacing (d) from each other and which are capable of providing catalytic combustion of hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide contained in the spent exhaust gases, and placed in front of a second housing (5) accommodating a particle filter (6), wherein the distance (d) between two adjacent catalysts ranges from 2 to 30 mm, and the catalysts (3, 4) are oxidation catalysts or a combination of oxidation catalysts and three-component catalytic neutralisers.
EFFECT: reducing the ageing rate during catalytic combustion of hydrocarbons contained in exhaust gases, efficient use during active regeneration of particle filters.
