FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a catalyst for selective catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides by ammonium in containing hydrocarbons of exhaust gases (EG). Catalyst has a carrier, as well as the first, applied directly on the catalytically active coating containing substituted with one or more transition metals zeolite and/or substituted by one or more transition metals zeolite-like compound, and the second coating, which covers the first coating facing the EG side and has such properties that it prevents contact of the present in exhaust gases of hydrocarbons containing at least 3 carbon atoms with by first coating, but does not block flow to it of nitrogen oxides and ammonia, and which contains one or more oxides, selected from a group comprising silicon dioxide, germanium dioxide, aluminium oxide, titanium dioxide, tin oxide, cerium oxide, zirconium dioxide and their mixed oxides.

EFFECT: invention also relates to the method of reducing content of nitrogen oxides, including nitrogen monoxide and nitrogen dioxide, in exhaust gases (EG) of diesel engines containing hydrocarbons.
