FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method involves contacting a solution of the converted metal chloride and an extractant in salt form to obtain an extract and a raffinate, re-extraction and regeneration of the extractant. An anion-exchange extractant, which contains 20-40% tertiary amine in sulphate form and 10-80% aliphatic alcohols, is used. Contacting the solution of the converted metal chloride with the extractant is carried out with transfer of chloride ions into the extract and sulphate ions into the raffinate to form a metal sulphate. Re-extraction of chloride ions from the extract is carried out with 0.5-2.0 M solution of sodium or potassium hydroxide. The extractant is regenerated with 1-3 M sulphuric acid solution.
EFFECT: high degree of conversion of metal chlorides into sulphates thereof while maintaining or increasing purity of the obtained salts, wider range of the obtained sulphates.
