FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises preliminary preparation of extractant in Ni-Co and Ni saline forms. Then, a countercurrent Co extraction from a sulfate solution with a pH=5-6 at 30-50°C with extractant in two salt forms to obtain Co extract and a Ni sulphate solution. In this case, the initial sulphate solution initially is contacted with the extractant in the Ni-Co salt form to obtaim a Co depleted solution which is contacted with the extractant in Ni form. The extractant in the Ni-Co form is fed to the extraction stage preceding the stage to which the initial sulfate solution is fed, and the extractant in the salt Ni form is fed to the first extraction stage.
EFFECT: decrease in the relative Ni content in cobalt reextract is 6,8-10 times and an increase in process productivity.
