FIELD: printing industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a protective element to protect valuable items against counterfeiting, and also to a data medium equipped with such protective element. The invention also relates to the method of making such protective element and method to verify authenticity of the protective element and data medium. The protective element has a base with multiple particles suitable for representation of at least two different information-reproducing states, at the same time transfer between information-reproducing states is reversible and takes place under action of gravity and in certain conditions exposed to external mechanical action.
EFFECT: invention provides for high extent of protection against counterfeit with simultaneous simplicity of authenticity check.
