FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to piezochromic protective element. Protective element (2) for information carrier (1), which has piezochromic liquid-crystal material (3, 5) of which contains cholesteric phase and elastomer, with screw axis of cholesteric phase being directed along the normal to the layer surface and cholesteric phase itself being held by elastomer in such a way that direction of said screw axis is fixed, and in case of elastomer compression in direction of the normal to the layer surface step of coils of spiral structure of cholesteric phase changes.
EFFECT: creation of piezochromic element with increased properties of mechanical flexibility and resilience of the surface structure.
