FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of determining rhenium by kinetic stripping voltammetry in natural and manmade aqueous solutions involves converting rhenium in the solution to rhenium (VII) and conducting voltammetric determination, wherein rhenium (VII) ions accumulate on mercury film electrode in a stirred solution for 10-20 s with electrolysis potential of -0.2 V relative a saturated silver chloride electrode on a background of 0.1 M H2SO4 with addition of 0.03 ml of 30% H2O2, followed by recording of cathodic peaks; recording a voltage versus current curve with potential sweep rate of 100 mV/s; concentration is determined from the height of the peak in the potential range from 0.0 to 0.2 V by standard addition technique.
EFFECT: invention enables to reduce the limit and lower bound of determined rhenium content based on the peak of electrocatalytic decomposition of hydrogen peroxide, obtained after electroconcentration of rhenium in form of on ReO2 on a mercury film electrode by kinetic stripping voltammetry.
