FIELD: radio engineering, communication.
SUBSTANCE: switch includes devices for addressing signals, doubling optical flux, an active element with waveguide channels and a device for controlling change in refraction coefficient of material of the waveguide channel. The waveguides are made from photorefractive material. In order to generate optical signals, the device includes an optical radiation source, a spatial-time light modulator and a holographic element. Device components are connected to each other and to photorefractive waveguide connections by a projection optical system. The disclosed device realises a method of switching NxN optical channels.
EFFECT: connecting input and output optical channels without crossing fibre-optic and electrical cables with maximum parallelism.
