FIELD: radio engineering, communication.
SUBSTANCE: switch includes devices for addressing signals, doubling optical flux, an active element with waveguide channels and a device for controlling change in refraction index of material of the waveguide channel. The waveguides are made of photorefractive material, and the device for doubling optical flux is in form of an optical splitter. The apparatus for controlling change in the refraction index of material of the waveguide channel is an array of radiators, a holographic optical element and/or an optical mask. Device components are connected to each other and to photorefractive waveguide connections by a projection optical system. The disclosed device realises a method of switching NxN optical channels.
EFFECT: connecting input and output optical channels without crossing fibre-optic and electrical cables with maximum parallelism.
