FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to construction materials, particularly granular foamed materials used to produce heat insulating materials and aggregates. In the method of producing heat insulating material which is also used as an aggregate, involving mixing liquid glass, calcium hydroxide, silica material and an organosilicon liquid, components of the mixture are mixed using an aqueous suspension of calcium hydroxide with the liquid-to-solid weight ratio equal to 1.5:1, which is added to the prepared mixture of liquid glass with Mc 5-3.0 and density of 1.4-1.5 g/cm3, silica filler - white soot and organosilicon liquid, with the following ratio of components, wt %: said liquid glass 86-95, calcium hydroxide in form of said suspension 3-12, white soot 0.1-2, hydrophobisation organosilicon liquid 0.01-1; monolithic briquettes of a given shape are made from the obtained mixture with curing at 15-25°C until complete solidification; granules are formed by crushing said briquettes by mechanical rubbing through a perforated steel plate with thickness of 0.2-0.3 mm with a given size of holes and profile of their cutting edges to obtain wet granules; the granules are partially dried at temperature of 60-80°C to moisture content of 26-32% and then foamed at 350-500°C. The invention is developed in subclaims.

EFFECT: high homogeneity of the composition, controlled strength and packed density.
