FIELD: production of construction materials.

SUBSTANCE: production of light porous aggregates for concrete. A mixture for the preparation of raw concrete aggregate granules includes a silica component and a binder aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide, sodium carbonate and sodium sulfate, in which the amount of sodium carbonate is from 10 to 35 percent of the weight content of sodium hydroxide, the amount of sodium sulfate is from 2 to 5 percent of weight content of sodium hydroxide. The amount of the silica component is at least 70 percent of the dry weight of the mixture. Raw granules with a size not exceeding 15 mm are formed from this mixture, which are fired at a temperature of 700 to 900°C.

EFFECT: reduced bulk density and water absorption of aggregate.
