FIELD: construction.
SUBSTANCE: blade of a tamping iron of a tamping machine comprises front and rear surfaces and a hard-alloy element. The hard-alloy element is fixed in the lower part of the blade. The hard-alloy element is made in the form of a triangular prism. The upper surface of the prism comprises a ledge. The ledge is fixed in the longitudinal slot of the lower part of the blade. Grooves for fixation of the front and rear surfaces of the blade and side edges for joining with hard-alloy plates and the front and rear surfaces of the blade, side surfaces of the triangular prism are made at the angle α from 20° to 40°. The hard-alloy element is made along the blade length as an integral whole or from separate parts.
EFFECT: improved reliability of tamping iron operation.
