FIELD: oil and gas industry.

SUBSTANCE: method to diagnose operation of a sucker rod pumping unit relates to oil production industry and is designed for definition of operation parameters of downhole pumping equipment, where wells are equipped with deep-well pump sets. The method to diagnose operation of the sucker rod pumping unit consists in logging of a dynamometer card with a dynamograph, which measures elastic transverse deformation of a polished rod, building of a profile of variation of absolute maximum and minimum loads in the point of rods suspension as the length of rod string suspension varies, and definition of the value of amplitude loads according to profile data. Afterwards the value of the amplitude load produced according to the dynamometer card is compared with the value calculated in accordance with the profile, at the same time the length of rod string suspension corresponding to this amplitude load on the profile will correspond to the area of potential break or bend of rods.

EFFECT: increased efficiency of set operation diagnostics, prevention of unneeded costs for performance of works to recover serviceability of deep-well pump valves in case of rod string failure.
